Communication technology companies have been red hot lately, with several leading names within the communication equipment industry surging triple digits year-to-date (YTD). It's an industry that, before the second half of this year, had barely received any attention.

The Google parent's stock is on a run — and that's lifting shares of major suppliers including Broadcom, Celestica and Lumentum.

AI data centers need fast transmission speeds, and Lumentum's products help achieve them. The company is growing at a stunning pace, and the stock has shot up impressively in the past year.

“Big mo” stock strategies have lost their advantage, but these companies display relative strength.

Stock selection in materials was the largest contributor to relative performance. The fund's holdings in mining exchange-traded funds and lack of real estate exposure also aided relative return. Stock selection in healthcare, energy, industrials and IT detracted from relative return.

Three data center stocks skyrocketed after releasing their latest financial results. However, Wall Street analysts appear concerned about two of these names, while being more optimistic about another.
