Roku reported a double beat, but that wasn't enough. Is it a buy right now?

Despite recent moves by potential competitors, Roku's risk-reward profile looks very compelling. The proposed Albertsons-Kroger acquisition has created a special situation that could be profitable no matter the outcome.

Roku CEO Anthony Wood collected a total pay package of $20.2 million in 2023, according to the company's latest proxy filing. Charlie Collier, the veteran former TV exec who now leads Roku Media, got $6.8 million. The tally was far below the $53.

Roku Inc (NASDAQ:ROKU) shares plunged almost 10% as its sales guidance for the second quarter missed estimates and it cautioned the benefits of price hikes are waning amid rising competition between ad-supported streaming services. For Q2, Roku projected revenue of $935 million, below estimates of $955 million.

Streaming platform leader Roku's Q1 sales and earnings topped analysts' estimates. Management said the entire streaming market is heading into a challenging period.

TV-streaming service Roku Inc. ROKU, +1.58% on Thursday forecast second-quarter sales that were above expectations, but warned of a higher bar for growth up ahead and moderating profit in the second half of the year. Roku said it expected second-quarter sales of $935 million, above FactSet estimates for $926 million.

Streaming video platform Roku beat expectations for the first quarter and guided above views for the current period.
