McDonald's Corp (NYSE:MCD, ETR:MDO) and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc (NASDAQ:DNUT) have announced they are ending their partnership in the United States after just six months of collaboration. The partnership, which was unveiled in March 2024, aimed to have Krispy Kreme donuts available in all McDonald's US locations by the end of 2026.

McDonald's and Krispy Kreme will end their doughnut partnership on July 2. The companies said the deal has not been as profitable as expected for the doughnut chain.

It turns out that McDonald's Corp.'s breakfast customers aren't as keen as expected to buy Krispy Kreme Inc.'s doughnuts along with their Egg McMuffins and hash browns.

McDonald's and donut maker Krispy Kreme said on Tuesday they would end their partnership in the United States by July, as the companies struggled to manage the costs associated with the venture.

McDonald's Corp. (NYSE: MCD) stock has declined by about 8% over the past month, as analysts are not particularly impressed with the company's latest earnings report. Same-store sales, a critical metric for companies like McDonald's, fell by more than 2%.
